Medical Waste Processing Facility

TCEQ Registration - MSW Permit # 40300

The Green and Gone® - North Texas Medical Waste Processing Facility received its Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Type V Medical Waste Procesing Facility registration on May 24, 2019. It is the newest processing facility in North Texas.

FOCUS on Independent RMW Transporters

The Green and Gone® - North Texas Facility focus is to provide independent regulated medical waste (RMW) transporters an additional or alternative facility for processing and treatment of their generator clients' RMW. The Facility was foremost designed and built for the needs of the transporters.

Treatment Capacity

The Green and Gone® - North Texas Facility has a current treatment capacity of over 10,000 pounds per day.

Easy, time-sensitive transporter drop off

The Green and Gone® - North Texas Facility has options to accomodate transporter trucking and drop-off needs in all weather conditions.

2 Truck Loading Ramps with Dock Level Doors and Dock Levelers

► The truck ramps can accept trucks up to and including semi-trucks with 50 foot trailers.

► The docks have dock levelers to accomodate most heights of truck or trailer floors for ease in direct unloading with a fork lift, pallet jacks, carts with casters and manually at the level of the receiving floor.

► The docks allow unloading into the receiving area in all weather conditions.

Covered Ground Level Dock

► A covered ground level dock is available for trucks and trailers with lift gates or ramps.

► A covered roof accomodates trucks or trailers up to 14' in height for unloading outside the ground level dock.

►The dock door can accomodate trucks or trailers up to 11'-6" in height for unloading inside the receiving area.

Waste Receiving and Certified Scale

► The Facility has a scanner to document receipt of waste by reading the manifest bar codes of the RMW containers.

► For transporters who require accurate weights for their client generators, for invoicing, for regulatory requirments or for their own internal needs, the Facility has a certified scale at the receiving area to document weights of the RMW containers immediately upon drop-off or at later time prior to processing.

Waste Containers

The Facility accepts waste received by transporters manifested and packaged in containers that meet the following criteria and the Green and Gone® - North Texas Regulated Medical Waste Acceptance Policy (G&G-RMWAP):

► The RMW is manifested in accordance with the applicable federal Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations in 49 CFR Part 172 and Texas TCEQ Rules in 30 TAC Chapter 326.

► The RMW is packaged in accordance with the applicable federal Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) regulations in 29 CFR Part 1910, DOT regulations in 49 CFR Part173 and Texas TCEQ Rules in 30 TAC Chapter 326.

► RMW containers meeting DOT and TCEQ regulations and rules accepted include:

  • Cubic yard caster carts
  • 64-gallon and 96-gallon caster carts
  • Tubs
  • Corrugated boxes
  • Sharps containers
  • Other bulk packaging approved by DOT and TCEQ regulations and rules
Waste Processing and Treatment

Regulatory Approval

The Facility treats the majority of the waste using microwave-assisted moist heat disinfection technology as previoulsy approved since 1992 in the Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) Rules in 25 TAC §1.133.

Proven Technology and Acceptance

• The technology is proven and widely accepted.

• The technology has been used to treat over 100,000,000 pounds of RMW nationally and internationally.

• The technology has been used in Texas to treat over 10,000,000 pounds of waste.

Disinfection Efficacy

The technology meets applicable TDSHS and TCEQ rules

The technology meets applicable recommendations and guidelines of the State and Territorial Association on Alternate Treatment Technologies (STAATT).

Treatment Process

The RMW is pre-shredded in the processing system, sprayed with steam to moisten the shredded waste, and microwaved to ensure thorough treatment prior to discharge.

Following treatment, the waste is conveyed from the treatment system in a sealed system directly to a self-contained compactor.

In accordance with TDSHS and TCEQ Rules, the treated waste is no longer classified as a special waste and is now acceptable for disposal in a permitted solid waste landfill as routine solid waste.

Generator Confidentiality and Confidence

The treated waste is thoroughly shredded, considered generally unrecognizable, contained within the solid waste compactor and inaccessible. For each load of treated manifested waste, the Facility personnel notifies the transporter of the treatment for compliance with TCEQ Rules. This provides the following benefits to the transporter clients' generators:

Confidentiallity due to the waste being shredded

Cradle-to-grave piece of mind for generator confidence.
